Skiathos Town
The ancient Town of the island, today called “Kastro”, was built in 800BC at the north part of the island. Around 1829-1830 the locals decided to build a new town at the south part, more approachable and closer to the sea. Skiathos Town is built amphitheatrically and it has many narrow streets lined with white houses and their red rooftops. It has two quaysides split by an outcrop of rock known as the “Bourtzi” where dozens of cafes exist in both harbours, the old and new. In the main shopping street called “Papadiamanti” you will find not only shops, but also cafes and bars. There is a great variety of tavernas and restaurants, scattered in the town and no matter what your taste is, you’ll be satisfied. Overall Skiathos Town is the perfect base for those wanting a variety of nightlife and a bit of action!!
